Oxbow Barnhouse
Located just north of Baxter State Park in Aroostook County, the 7,400 square foot Oxbow Barnhouse was designed as a base camp for outdoor activities in Maine’s North Woods. This White Pine timber frame boasts massive thirty-eight foot clear-span king post trusses designed to handle the heaviest snow loads in the state.
The interior space comprises a large, open format lodge-style living space with great room and eating area, along with a second floor loft space designed to sleep 12. Adjacent is a massive eight bay, double deep barn space designed to hold outdoor vehicles, equipment, and watercraft to ensure guests are well equipped to enjoy the wilderness surrounding them.
This project lays claim to being one of the largest hand cut timber frames in the state of Maine.
