Downeast Architect’s Studio
Peak Timberworks collaborated with Pogany Architecture of Los Angeles, California to design this Eastern Hemlock timber frame. After cutting and pre-fitting in the shop, our crew travelled by truck and ocean barge to raise the frame on Little Cranberry Island just off Mount Desert Island in downeast Maine. The main section consists of an open first floor facing due south toward the Atlantic, with a small loft above for sleeping. Two shed extensions provide additional space for coastal activities. Due to the remoteness of the site, this frame was raised by hand with the help of friends and family across the island and fits well in it’s nook of rugged coast line.
